Sulagna Das, Ph.D
sulagna.das@emory.edu
@angalus_d
Principal Investigator
Neuroscientist, RNA Biologist, Tree-hugger and amateur environmentalist.

Sulagna loves watching single-biomolecules live in action and deciphering the inner workings of neurons! In her free time she enjoys spending time with her baby girl, gardening, and exploring Atlanta's food and brewery scene with her husband. Sulagna strives to maintain a sustainable lifestyle.

Karthik Krishnamurthy, Ph.D
Associate Scientist
Karthik obtained his Ph.D in Neuroscience from National Institute Of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), India. His postdoctoral work at Johns Hopkins and Thomas Jefferson University focused on studying synaptic biology and mechanisms of ALS. Karthik is passionate about microscopy and developing new imaging-based techniques to study RNA-protein interactions.

Laura Hughes Harris
Research Specialist / Lab Manager
Laura received her bachelor's in Biology with a minor in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduation she worked in a lab at UNC studying sex differences in cardiac disease, where she developed a passion for imaging. In her free time, Laura enjoys drawing different species of fish and interesting buildings, caring for her dog and learning to cook new meals.

Kiani Cruz
Graduate Student
Kiani is a graduate student in Emory's Genetics & Molecular Biology (GMB) program. She did her post-baccalaureate at the University of Chicago where she researched the molecular mechanisms underlying motor neuron development and maintenance in C. elegans. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from the University of Hawaii where she researched the molecular overlap of dynamin-2 between centronuclear myopathy and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Kiani is passionate about molecular neurogenetics, epigenetics, and the mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, yoga, and caring for her beloved tortoiseshell cat, Honey.

Ricardo Vazquez
Research Specialist
Ricardo received his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences from Colorado State University. He is interested in the spatiotemporal regulatory role RNA and the development of tools to investigate RNA and protein interactions. Outside the lab Ricardo enjoys spending time with his spouse and two cats, hiking, playing board games, woodworking, and fixing things.

Arya Nagare
Undergraduate Student
Arya is an undergraduate student from Georgia Tech majoring in Biology. She is very interested in learning about the relationship between RNA and proteins within dendrites and how specific gene expression relates to neurological disorders. She is an avid runner, enjoys traveling, loves to shop, and plays pickleball.
